Hockey Northwestern Ontario Welcomes Brent Henley as New Technical Director

Thunder Bay, ON – Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Henley as its new Technical Director, effective August 11, 2025.

With a strong background in recreation management and deep roots in the hockey community, Brent brings more than a decade of leadership experience to the role. He most recently served as Manager of Parks and Recreation for the Municipality of Greenstone, where he oversaw operations across multiple arenas and community facilities. His work with minor hockey associations, schools, and community programming has demonstrated his passion for sport development and youth engagement.

A former Junior A player with the La Ronge Ice Wolves and the Manitoulin Islanders, Henley also played with the Thunder Bay Kings at U13, U15, and U18 levels. He has remained committed to the game as a coach, volunteer, and mentor, and is actively involved in Longlac Minor Hockey and the North Shore Golden Knights.

“Brent’s leadership experience, combined with his lifelong passion for hockey, makes him a valuable addition to our team,” said Jim Fetter, Executive Director of HNO. “We look forward to the energy and insight he will bring to growing and supporting hockey across Northwestern Ontario.”

Brent will lead the development and delivery of technical programming, coach and official training, grassroots growth initiatives, and support for minor hockey associations throughout the region.
