Risk management

Independent Third Party Complaint Process

HNO and Hockey Canada’s response to all allegations of maltreatment is through Hockey Canada’s Independent Third Party (ITP) complaint mechanism. We encourage all individuals experiencing or witnessing maltreatment (including advocates for other people) to communicate with the ITP. For more information on the ITP, including information for complaint submission, complainants, respondents, as well as policies and processes; please visit https://sportcomplaints.ca/.

Insurance

Hockey Canada has constructed a National Insurance Program to provide financial resources to help deal with the cost of risks which confront organized hockey. The information outlined within this insurance section is secondary to that which is contained in the actual policy wordings of the Hockey Canada master policy.

ROWAN’S LAW

Hockey Northwestern Ontario has been working with Hockey Canada on the implementation of Rowan’s Law since the adoption of the Rowan’s Law Concussion Safety on March 7, 2018. HNO is in full support of the intent of Rowan’s Law to create awareness of concussions, change the culture on concussions, and provide safe sport participation.
